About

Welcome

My name is Stephen Cleary and I’m a website and digital media producer, with broad experience in all aspects of website design, management and content production, especially for higher education. I pride myself on using innovative technologies for brand development. I have a particular interest in design and content production for mobile apps. I am a keen user of social media and I spend my spare time making computer based music.

I consider my specialities to be:

•    User-centred UI design and graphic design for websites and mobile apps
•    Web and multimedia project management and production
•    Video for web & DVD (planning, shooting & post-production)
•    Audio recording (including podcasts) and production for web, radio and CD

Amplitude Media is my blog for my web and multimedia productions.

That Creative Idea

I love the combination of new technology and the creative arts. I find it really rewarding to create something from nothing, whether it is a piece of electronic music created with a synthesizer and samples or a video that captures people’s imagination. It’s all about having a great creative idea and then converting it into a tangible product.

Good Radio

I studied Multimedia Technology at Glamorgan University, and I was lucky enough to take a sandwich year at a local radio station Red Dragon FM (now Capital), and a three month internship with web design company Eazyweb. I learnt more than I could have imagined from working in radio. I still use the basic techniques for creating good radio when producing web content – it’s got to capture your audience immediately with the key message, it’s got to be engaging and it’s got to be to the point.

We Love Ibiza

My love of music went hand in hand with my love of multimedia. I went on to set up my own digital record label called Phase Seven Records and freelanced in Ibiza, Spain. I made some great contacts that lead me to engineering radio shows in Café Mambo for the likes of Radio 1, Ministry of Sound, Kiss and Capital. I also filmed a few short videos for MTV (UK), assisted in creating podcasts for We Love Space, and managed the Internet and digital marketing campaign for Eden superclub. I was lucky enough to be mentored by a former ITV cameraman and BBC Radio engineer, which proved to be invaluable experience!

Newport

I currently work for Newport University as the Web Multimedia Developer. I work in the Web Team, which is a small team of four – Web Development Manager, Web Administrator, Web Developer and myself. I design the look and feel and user interface for the corporate website, stand alone websites and mobile apps, and I’m currently designing the look and feel and UI for our new Intranet & student portal.  I plan, produce, record and edit the University’s corporate videos, podcasts and various other multimedia. I also manage the University’s website homepage.
